Systems Engineer

Position available in Santa Clara, or National.

About the opportunity:

The Systems Engineer (SE) interfaces with multiple members of the OpSource and customer teams on a technical and customer service level. The SE demonstrates an enterprise view and understanding of systems and technologies. The SE is responsible for system design, installation and maintenance of hardware products, installation and maintenance of operating systems, enterprise-wide implementation of new system management, monitoring and planning tools/processes, fundamentals of security, installing third party software, back up configuration and restoration of files, system patches, security updates and system upgrades. This includes racking and cabling of servers, managing service contracts, and documenting systems in accordance with company standards. The SE serves as a point of escalation and review for issues or concerns identified by the customer or the monitoring system on a 24×7 basis.

The SE provides project leadership and develops solutions to improve the environment and enhance server reliability. The SE provides sales support to assist in determining customer needs and projecting requirements based on customer input. The SE is responsible for designing networks and solutions to best meet customer needs as well as making and presenting recommendations to improve existing infrastructures. The SE works closely with the Program Operations Manager to ensure deliverables are met.

Key job responsibilities are:

  • Designing networks and system solutions based on customer requests and needs
  • Presenting customers with recommendations regarding hardware and systems software.
  • Installing hardware and software, maintaining appropriate maintenance levels and tuning.
  • Evaluating, recommending, installing and configuring hardware and software to meet customer requirements
  • Installing and configuring tools for event monitoring, capacity planning, performance monitoring, etc. and making recommendations based on results
  • Level 3 troubleshooting and resolution of system problems.
  • Leading technical projects from start to finish while working within organizational change management and project management guidelines
  • Performing system software upgrades including planning / scheduling, testing, and coordination, and maintaining integrity of the operating system environment
  • Account creation and management
  • Performing data backups and recoveries.
  • Responding to outages both during normal business hours and in an after-hours, on-call capacity
  • Producing documentation for use in configuration, repair and troubleshooting of hardware, software and network operating systems
  • Coordinating and interfacing with outside vendors, end users, other department team members, and service providers to resolve issues.
  • Participating in capacity planning and disaster recovery exercises while producing supporting documentation

Skills Required:

  • 3+ years of experience in IT and production internet environments
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in technical concepts coupled with the ability to communicate complex technical information in straightforward terms
  • Experience with and a broad understanding of implementing and managing complex technical projects with the ability to solve technical problems

Service Delivery Manager

About the opportunity:

The Service Delivery Manager (SDM) is the primary point of contact for designated customers and is responsible for managing the communication process in accordance with company standards and customer expectations. The SDM is the primary customer interface and responsible for development/maintenance of the customer relationship. The SDM works as part of a team to help develop general and detailed design documents, configuration specifications, requirements, and timing estimates for technical projects.

The SDM manages the design, development, and revision of project plans, reviews complex data to define and assign project tasks, creates and delivers presentations on project goals and plans, and interacts with other team members, departments and/or external sources to gather data and accomplish tasks. The SDM establishes timeframes and monitors progress, directs the development and implementation of scope of work, provides consistent and comprehensive status reports, project updates, and maintains appropriate issue management and resolution.

Customer Care Center Technician

This C3 Technician is part of the C3 technical team, supporting OpSource 24×7 System Management responsibilities for our customers. The C3 monitors and maintains our customer’s site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The goal of the team, and the overall support organization, is to build strong customer relationships, and deliver total customer satisfaction through world-class support.

Essential Functions: This position will be monitoring the network management system; reporting problems to the carriers; troubleshooting customer issues; reviewing and creating documentation; managing trouble tickets; escalating issues; working with engineers to resolve issues and alerts; and generating periodic reports on network activity. Candidates should possess excellent people skills (with co-workers and customers), strong written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical and problem solving abilities, and experience with Internet/software technology.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.

Educational Requirements: High School Diploma Required. College Education and Technical Certifications preferred or equivalent work experience.

Executive Assistant to the President/COO

Position available in Santa Clara

This position reports directly to the president & COO (chief operating officer) of OpSource and is designed to empower the president and his staff to achieve their greatest productivity.

Primary responsibility will be to support the president and the six direct report executives including the heads of sales, marketing, client services, product management, product development, and operations. This position will require an individual who takes initiative, continually seeks and implements better ways to manage the business, can effectively multi-task with grace, and receive inbound inquiries and requests with a positive attitude. A high level of external and internal customer focus and service with a positive attitude is expected as this person will, in many ways, be the ‘face of the company’ to external stakeholders and employees on behalf of the president. This position will proactively partner with the CEO’s executive assistant who also supports the CFO, human resources, and finance departments.

Key job responsibilities are:

  • Learn the president’s priorities and take on an ‘air traffic control’ role of guiding inbound requests proactively.
  • Manage and coordinate calendars, schedules and agendas (e.g., monthly company meeting / conference call, monthly management meetings, weekly staff meetings, etc.)
  • Schedule conference calls
  • Receive and coordinate visitors
