London, UK, 29 January 2013 – Dimension Data, the global ICT services and solutions provider, today announced the launch of a newly developed cloud website to help European businesses easily evaluate their cloud readiness, sign-up for public cloud services and manage servers, storage and networking in the cloud. The site is the first of its kind for Dimension Data in Europe, allowing clients to access cloud computing resources and procure cloud services in a single online destination.
The launch of the European cloud website follows Dimension Data’s placement as a Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service. The report recognised the Dimension Data as one of five Leaders for Cloud IaaS globally.
Dimension Data’s public cloud and private cloud services were launched in February 2012 in response to increasing demand from organisations for cloud hosting for software development and testing, enterprise applications, SaaS, disaster recovery, archiving and backup. With a cloud hosting facility in Amsterdam, Dimension Data enables European businesses to keep their data within the European Union. For global organisations that need to deploy servers abroad, Dimension Data has additional cloud hosting facilities in the San Jose, California; Ashburn, Virginia; Hong Kong; Sydney, Australia; and Johannesburg, South Africa.
The online service provides a single destination for:
- Online Sign-up: new users can get started with a free trial or by signing up with a credit card. Users are charged as little as USD 0.044 per CPU hour, USD 0.0275 per RAM hour and USD 0.0004 per Storage hour for usage.
- Cloud Management: a web-based user interface and API allows end users to setup and deploy cloud servers, configure networking and add storage.
- Cloud Assessment: a short and convenient web-based online assessment that includes an in-depth survey that determines an organisation’s cloud readiness level and recommends actions to address the gaps.
“Though many organisations are keen to take advantage of the cost savings and improved agility that cloud computing offers, businesses often find it difficult to get started,” comments David Leyland, Line of Business Manager for Data Centre Solutions, Dimension Data. “This online cloud website will help them overcome common hurdles by providing the resources needed to adopt cloud computing into their IT strategy.”
